Will One Of Your Students Invent The Future?
Our Formula 100 competition is back for 2016!
Your Life is searching for the UK’s most creative and inventive young minds and we are asking teachers around the country to help us find them.
All students need to do to enter is submit a 30-60 second video answering the following simple question:
What would you invent and why?
This year there are two categories:
11-13 years old
14-16 years old
Winning entries in each category will receive:
£1,000 cash for the school/youth organisation
iPad for the student
There are also amazing extra prizes on offer which have been kindly donated by two Your Life sponsors:
Shell is offering four one-day admission tickets to Goodwood Festival of Speed on Sunday 26th June, for the winner in the 11-13 age category (to include accompanying adults).
Johnson & Johnson is offering the opportunity for a special tour of their Beerse site in Belgium with travel and accommodation for the winning student of the 14-16 category plus one adult. The site is a centre for research and development as well as production, and it is the home of Janssen, Johnson & Johnson’s pharmaceutical division.
New this year – three shortlisted entries from each category will be invited to take part in creating an Invent the Future video showcasing their idea for the Your Life YouTube channel. Viewers will then be asked to “like” their favourite invention. Entries will be judged against a number of criteria. Online votes will count towards 20% of the final score for each entry.
The competition will be open from 11th January to 24th April 2016
The downloadable lesson plans and supporting presentation will help teachers use Formula 100 to engage students with both STEM subjects and careers. There is also a poster to promote the competition within school.
Running a Founders4Schools event could help fill your students with ideas. The platform provides a no-fuss, simple to use way for you to arrange free inspirational visits from successful, local business leaders.
